Meeting course requirements
Student requirements
Students are generally required to:
- attend classes, lectures or tutorials and/or
- submit work for assessment
In order to meet course requirements and complete and pass their course of study.
If a student fails to do any of these things, their Student Allowance may be suspended.
Before suspending access to a Student Allowance, consideration must be given to the circumstances of the case, including whether the student's situation is ongoing or whether it is a one-off occurrence.
Reinstatement
If allowance payments are suspended for failing to meet course requirements, the allowance payments may be reinstated if the student resumes attending classes and/or meeting their work requirements.
Generally, this would be from the Monday of the week in which they resume meeting the attendance and/or work requirements of their course.
Cancellation of enrolment by a provider
Not meeting course requirements is an entitlement issue. It is different to a cancellation of enrolment. If a student's enrolment is cancelled, their Student Allowance eligibility ceases from the date their enrolment is cancelled.
