Accepting a Student Loan contract after withdrawal or the study end date
The Student Loan Contract is a contract between the student and the Crown.
The contract is not completed, until the student has returned the signed contract or accepted it online. Because Student Loans are provided to enable students to study, this should be done before their withdrawal from study, or study end date.
If the contract is not signed and returned, or accepted online until after their withdrawal from study or study end date, MSD should not process the contract, as the reason for seeking financial support provided by the Student Loan Scheme, to enable study, no longer exists. In effect the application will remain uncompleted.
If there has been an error by MSD that prevented the contract acceptance process from being completed, or there is another reason beyond the student's control that prevented the contract acceptance process from being completed, MSD needs to consider whether there is a good reason (consistent with the purpose of the Student Loan Scheme) to process the acceptance of the contract.
