Loan repayments
Loan repayments can be made at any time to Inland Revenue.
From 1 April 2012 once a Student Loan borrower earns income in excess of the relevant pay period repayment threshold they are required to make Student Loan repayments (their repayment obligation) to Inland Revenue, unless Inland Revenue approve an exception, in which case the annual repayment threshold will apply.
Prior to 1 April 2012 a Student Loan borrower was only required to make Student Loan repayments (their repayment obligation) to Inland Revenue once they earned income in excess of the annual repayment threshold.
