Existing portable payments for Widows and Widowers in Canada
From 15 July 2013 onwards, people receiving existing portable payments of Widows Benefit and Domestic Purposes Benefit for Widowers in Canada will be grandparented on their existing rate and conditions.
References to the benefit names Widows Benefit and Domestic Purposes Benefit for Widowers are grandparented for existing clients and must still be used when administering these benefits payable under the Agreement with Canada and when corresponding with the client.
Grandparenting arrangements do not apply to the former Invalid's Benefit because the only change is the name change to Supported Living Payment.
