Commencement of payment in Ireland
When a client applies for their New Zealand benefit or pension to be paid in the Republic of Ireland before their departure from New Zealand, payments under the Irish Agreement will start on the first payday after their departure.
When a client applies from Ireland, the New Zealand benefit or pension will start on:
- the date they become entitled to the New Zealand benefit or pension
- the date the agreement with Ireland came into force (1 March 1993)
- the earlier of the date they applied for a New Zealand benefit or an Irish pension
whichever is the latest date.
Note that the initial stand-down applies to clients applying for New Zealand benefits other than New Zealand Superannuation or Veterans Pension.
The Irish authorities forward the application form and supporting documentation to International Services
