New Zealand Superannuation
When a client from the Republic of Ireland meets all the qualifications for New Zealand Superannuation except residence they may qualify under the agreement with Ireland.
The agreement with Ireland allows periods of contributions to the Irish insurance scheme since the age of 20 to be regarded as residence in New Zealand for a client to meet the period of residence qualification for New Zealand Superannuation.
The client must be the New Zealand qualifying age.
The client's contributions to the Irish insurance scheme together with any periods of New Zealand residence must total 10 years since the age of 20 and 5 years since the age of 50.
The client may also be entitled to an Irish benefit or pension, which may be directly deducted from New Zealand Superannuation.
