Orphans Benefit
When a client from the Republic of Ireland meets all the qualifications for the New Zealand Orphans Benefit except residence they may qualify under the agreement with Ireland.
The agreement with Ireland allows for birth in Ireland to be regarded as birth in New Zealand to meet the residence laws for Orphans Benefit.
The client may also be entitled to an Irish benefit or pension, which may be directly deducted from the New Zealand Orphans Benefit.
SWIFTT
When Orphans Benefit is granted using the agreement with Ireland you will need to add the reciprocal indicator by using the SDT1A screen in SWIFTT and entering 07 in the entitlement code field.
