Clients entitled to Korean benefits
Clients, their partner and dependents (if any) must apply for any pension or benefit that they may be entitled to from Korea if they are applying for or getting a New Zealand benefit or pension. This applies even if the New Zealand benefit they are applying for is not included in the agreement with Korea.
If the client has applicable periods of Korean contributions, they will need to complete an application for a Korean benefit.
International Services will contact clients with applicable periods of residence in Korea and ask them to apply for a Korean benefit.
When the client completes the application, it is important that you check the following details before forwarding it to International Services:
- all relevant questions on the form have been answered
- all supporting documentation is attached
- the application form is signed and dated
If the client refuses to apply for a Korean old age benefit or any other benefit or pension from Korea they may be entitled to contact International Services.
