New Zealand Superannuation
New Zealand Superannuation clients must meet the income test to qualify for a Community Service Card unless they:
- are getting Accommodation Supplement or
- are tenants of social housing or
- their partner is getting an income tested benefit
There is no residence test for New Zealand Superannuation clients to get a Community Services Card because they have already met the residence requirement for their superannuation.
If a grandparented non-qualified partner was included, both clients are considered New Zealand Superannuation clients.
Partners of clients getting Residential Care Subsidy have to apply and qualify for a Community Services Card in their own right.
When one partner is living in a rest home but does not qualify for Residential Care Subsidy, you must consider eligibility for the card as a family unit.
