Primary Health Organisations
When family members are enrolled patients of a health practitioner who belongs to a Primary Health Organisation they do not need a Community Services Card to get reduced fees for health practitioner's consultations and prescription items.
However, they do need a current Community Services Card if they visit a different health practice after hours or on the weekend, or if they go to a health practice when they are out of town.
For example, if a client is visiting family members in another part of the country, and gets sick and needs to go to a health practice, they will be charged a higher fee unless they can produce a current Community Services Card.
