Commencement date
The commencement date of employment and work readiness assistance will vary depending on the type of programme or service provided.
Generally, the commencement date is the date:
- the client's wage subsidy starts (normally the date the client starts subsidised employment)
- the client starts attending their employment-related training
Note a lump sum payment for course fees can be made prior to the client attending the course to ensure their placement. Ongoing costs can only start from the date the client starts attending their course.
or
- the client starts attending the programme or service
Note some types of assistance do not have a commencement date as they are one-off payments and can be considered before the programmes and services start.
Example
Client is to start a course at the local polytechnic. They have been accepted onto the course, subject to the tuition fees being paid. An assessment is completed with two lump sum payments made for fees and books. An ongoing payment for transport is also assessed.
In this situation, the start date is inĀ 2 weeks (the date the course commences) but two lump sum payments for fees and books can be paid before the course start date.
