What an agent cannot do
There are some actions that an agent is unable to carry out on behalf of the client.
Job search obligations
The client must meet their job search obligations themselves and cannot appoint their agent to undertake these activities on their behalf.
Employment engagement for 26 week reapplication process
When completing the 26 week reapplication for Jobseeker Support the client or partner (if any included in their Jobseeker Support) must complete the employment engagement themselves.
An agent cannot complete the employment engagement on the client's behalf unless MSD decides there is a reason that means this is unavoidable.

Social housing assessment
The client must attend the first appointment (either in person, or over the phone) when their housing need is being assessed, even if they have appointed an agent.
The agent or support person can attend the social housing assessment interview with the client.
The agent can only complete the assessment on behalf of the client when there is a very good reason why the client cannot attend the interview.
For example, the client is temporarily in hospital, or the assessment is being done over the phone and the client is unable to be present with the agent.
The agent can only deal with the social housing provider when there is a potential property offer if the client has requested that we give the agent's details to the social housing provider and the agent has agreed.
The housing provider decides whether they will deal with the agent or the client.
