Third party debt
In certain situations benefit payments can be made to a third party on behalf of a client. Where overpayments of benefit occur a debt is created which is repayable by the third party.
Examples of this can include:
- benefit paid to a residential care service on behalf of a client
- Childcare subsidy or OSCAR subsidy paid to a centre on behalf of a child
- wage subsidy paid to an employer
