Transfer between benefits
Clients who are transferring between benefits may have the requirement to complete a Jobseeker Profile, depending on the type of benefit they are transferring to.
This is because transferring to a new benefit is considered a new application for a benefit.
Transferring to a specified benefit
Clients who are transferring to:
- Jobseeker Support
- Sole Parent Support, or
- Emergency Benefit with work-related conditions of grant (including Emergency Maintenance Allowance)
are required to complete a Jobseeker Profile, unless their circumstances mean the requirement is not reasonable. This includes clients transferring from Youth Payment or Young Parent Payment to one of these benefits.
The Jobseeker Profile must be completed before a client can be transferred to the new benefit.
Clients will have 20 working days to complete the Jobseeker Profile from their date of first contact. If the Jobseeker Profile is not completed within this timeframe, a new application will need to be made.
Sole Parent Support transfer to Jobseeker Support when youngest child turns 14
Clients who are getting Sole Parent Support will automatically transfer to Jobseeker Support when their youngest child turns 14.
In this situation, a client doesn't need to complete a Jobseeker Profile as they're not considered to be making a new application for a benefit.
MSD may assign an obligation-related activity for a client to complete the Jobseeker Profile at a later date.
