Pre-benefit requirements for clients

As part of the application process for benefit, clients may be required to:

  • undertake an assigned pre-benefit activity
  • at any time before their benefit commences, attend and participate in any interview for suitable employment to which they are referred
  • at any time before their benefit commences, accept any offer of suitable employment
  • complete a Jobseeker Profile

When it is identified during the application process that the client or their partner qualifies for a benefit with no pre-benefit requirements, then pre-benefit requirements do not apply.

Pre-benefit requirements do not apply to all benefits

Pre-benefit requirements do not apply to applicants for:

  • Supported Living Payment (caring for a person)
  • New Zealand Superannuation
  • Veterans Pension
