What may be considered to be a written application
A written application does not need to be on a specific form.
There are a number of documents that are used for variety of purposes during the administration of financial assistance and these documents may also be regarded as applications for assistance.
Where any document indicates that a client requires assistance for another need or purpose (ie one that they are not already receiving assistance for), this document should be regarded as an application.
Examples of these documents include:
- applications for other forms of financial assistance
- applications in review forms
- letters or other correspondence where the client makes a request for assistance for a particular need or purpose
Note any document within which the client, in addition to providing the review information required, makes a request for assistance for a particular need or purpose should be regarded as an application for assistance other than a benefit. Correspondence from a client may also be an application where that correspondence indicates that the client has a particular need or purpose for which they require assistance.
