Accommodation Supplement: Contents

Idea Services residents and drug and alcohol abuse facilities

Most Idea Services residents and those staying at a drug and alcohol abuse facility will get a Residential Support Subsidy. In this case they cannot get Accommodation Supplement.

If residents at an Idea Services, or drug and alcohol abuse facility are not getting Residential Support Subsidy, they may be able to get Accommodation Supplement.

When the amount a resident pays for their accommodation includes other costs (e.g. food or service costs) and these costs can be separated out from the amount they pay for accommodation, they are considered renting.

When the resident pays for their accommodation and food, and the food costs can't be separated out from the amount they pay, they are considered boarding.

Former residents of Idea Services facilities may get extra support from Idea Services.

Extra support could include:

  • someone taking the client grocery shopping

The costs of this support cannot be included as an accommodation cost.

People in approved Social Rehabilitation Programmes can receive Accommodation Supplement but are then not eligible to receive Social Rehabilitation Assistance.
