Accommodation Supplement : Contents
Net equity in former family home - non-beneficiaries
When a person has separated they may own, or jointly own the family home.
In this case do not assess the person's net equity in the home as an asset until:
- a decision on the sale of the home is made or
- there is a Relationship Property Settlement (previously matrimonial property settlement) - under a Property Agreement or Property Order
whichever is earlier.
Note that rent received from the property by a non-beneficiary needs to be counted as income against the Accommodation Supplement.
