Accommodation Supplement: Contents
Outgoings paid by someone else - beneficiaries
In some circumstances a client may have their accommodation costs paid for by another person (for example a client's parent).
Where accommodation costs are paid for by someone else, you can still pay the client, Accommodation Supplement. In the case of a beneficiary you must:
- charge the amount of money that is contributed by the 'other' person against their main benefit as income
- regard the total rent or outgoings as the client's accommodation costs
Exception
Where a couple have separated and the client's former partner is contributing to the outgoings of the joint family home, outgoings paid for by the partner (in some circumstances) may be disregarded as income.
