Payment during stand downs
A person may already be receiving Accommodation Supplement as a non-beneficiary when they apply for a main benefit.
In this case they may continue to receive their original rate of Accommodation Supplement during their stand-down. This is the case whether the client is having an ordinary stand down or a voluntarily unemployment stand down.
A person who previously would have qualified on grounds of income, but, did not apply prior to application of benefit will not become eligible during the stand-down prior to grant of benefit.
A client who would not previously have qualified for an Accommodation Supplement and was not receiving an Accommodation Supplement prior to application cannot be paid an Accommodation Supplement during a stand-down.
Delayed application for main benefit
A person who would be subject to a non-entitlement period or a stand down and is not receiving Accommodation Supplement as a non-beneficiary cannot choose to delay their application for a main benefit and apply for Accommodation Supplement first.
