Accommodation Supplement: Contents
Striking workers
Where a single client is not employed because of a strike, they can receive an Accommodation Supplement. However, you can consider that they have deprived themselves of income and assess entitlement to Accommodation Supplement by taking into account pre-strike earnings.
This approach will ensure that:
- clients already receiving Accommodation Supplement do not qualify for a higher rate as a result of going on strike
- clients who previously did not qualify for Accommodation Supplement on the grounds of income, will not become eligible as a result of going on strike and
- clients who previously would have qualified on the grounds of income but did not apply prior to striking are eligible
