If a client meets all qualifications, an Advance Payment of Benefit may be made to a client who:
- is a client with work obligations who is required to participate in an activity that involves undertaking work
- is a client who participates in an Activity in the Community [no link find out why] project that involves undertaking work and has agreed to do so
- is required for the client's safety while participating in that activity, by the provider of the work to wear safety footwear not supplied by that provider
- does not already own suitable safety footwear and
- could not participate in the activity without purchasing safety footwear
A client may not be refused an Advance Payment of Benefit under this category because of their existing debt level or the expected duration of their benefit.
As a guideline, an Advance Payment of Benefit for Safety Footwear should not be more than $130.
Where the client receives a Participation Allowance for participating in an Activity in the Community, an Advance Payment of Benefit under this category should be recovered at a rate of $5.00 or more a week, unless exceptional circumstances exist.
