Child leaves care
Child that the subsidy is for
The OSCAR subsidy must be stopped from the day after the date that the child leaves the client's care.
Other child in family
The OSCAR subsidy must be reviewed from the day after the date that the child leaves the client's care to ensure that the correct rate is being paid. The reason for this is that the amount of subsidy that can be paid depends on how many children are in the family. This is because the rate of subsidy payable is based on household income and the number of dependent children remaining, if any.
Care and protection concerns
If MSD believes any child has been, or is likely to be harmed (physically, emotionally or sexually), ill-treated, abused, neglected, deprived or MSD has concerns about the wellbeing of the child, the case must be referred to Oranga Tamariki.
