Eligible child

To receive a Childcare Subsidy, the client's child must be:

• dependent on the caregiver applying for the subsidy (this includes a child for whom Unsupported Childs Benefit or Orphans Benefit is being paid)
• under the age of 5 years old or
• aged over 5 years and enrolled to attend a cohort entry school on the term or mid-term start date, on or immediately after the child's 5th birthday (whichever is closer) 
• aged less than 5 years and 4 weeks and not yet attending a school with continuous entry or
• under the age of 6 years old if a Child Disability Allowance is paid and
• attending an approved early childhood education programme or service
• for 3 hours a week or more
