Payment
Generally, Civilian Amputee Assistance is paid before the client attends the appointment at the limb centre. Clients must provide a quote or estimate of their costs to attend the appointment.
Payments should be made to the supplier where this is possible.
Reimbursement
The full cost of some items may not be known prior to attendance at the limb centre or regional clinic. Your client can apply for reimbursement of any additional costs if the amount paid in advance did not meet the full cost.
When a client elects to meet the costs themselves, they can apply for a reimbursement after they have attended their appointment.
Clients who receive Civilian Amputee Assistance before they attend the limb centre will need to complete a second application for a reimbursement of any further costs. All applications for reimbursement should be made within 6 months of attending the appointment.
Payment for reimbursement of costs can be made direct to the client.
Attendants' costs
Payments can also be made for an attendant in some situations.
The attendant can claim, travel, accommodation and meals.
No assistance is provided to the attendant for loss of earnings.
