Accommodation Security Cover Grant : Contents

Introduction

Accommodation Security Cover Grant provides support for clients needing help to get or keep accommodation.

Accommodation Security Cover Grant is a conditional grant providing an accommodation supplier with an assurance that the client will be able to meet any outstanding accommodation costs and expenses (up to a maximum amount) if owed at the end of the accommodation agreement.

Accommodation Security Cover Grant is paid to the accommodation supplier or their agent at the end of the accommodation agreement to ensure the payment is used in a similar way to a bond payment. The client must pay the amount of any Accommodation Security Cover Grant that has been paid back to MSD.

Accommodation Security Cover Grant cannot be paid to the accommodation supplier or their agent until all the conditions of the grant are met.

Residential Tenancies Act 1986 does not apply

Accommodation Security Cover Grant is only available to clients who are moving into accommodation where the Residential Tenancies Act 1986 does not apply.

Where the Residential Tenancies Act 1986 does apply to the client’s accommodation, MSD can consider paying a Bond Grant and/or Tenancy Cost Cover grant instead.
