Accommodation is suitable to live in
MSD may consider whether the accommodation will be suitable for the client to live in if the grant is made.
Factors MSD may consider include but are not limited to whether the:
- accommodation has been modified to suit the accessibility needs for the client, their partner (if any) or their dependent children (if any)
- client has access to facilities such as clean drinking water, cooking facilities, electricity, heating, beds and mattresses, toilet and bathing facilities and a food refrigerator that the client can access
- accommodation has enough bedrooms
- accommodation is fit for human habitation, including being structurally safe to live in
MSD does not need to assess if a client's accommodation is suitable at every Bond Grant assessment. However, if it is clear through the conversation with the client that the accommodation is not suitable for the client, their partner (if any) or their dependent children (if any), MSD may decline the application.
