Introduction

Tenancy Costs Cover provides support for clients who are having difficulty getting housing due to their personal circumstances. 

Tenancy Costs Cover is a conditional grant providing landlords with an assurance that the client will be able to meet any tenancy related costs over and above the bond (up to a maximum amount), if owed at the end of the tenancy.

Tenancy Costs Cover cannot be paid to the landlord or their agent until all the conditions of the grant are met.

Tenancy Costs Cover is paid to the landlord or their agent. However, the client must pay the amount of any Tenancy Costs Cover back to MSD.

Tenancy Costs Cover is only available to clients who are in an accommodation agreement that the Residential Tenancies Act 1986 applies to.

Clients entering accommodation that the Residential Tenancies Act 1986 does not apply to may be eligible for an Accommodation Security Cover Grant.
