Caregiver dies
When a caregiver who was receiving Orphans Benefit or Unsupported Childs Benefit, and Clothing Allowance for Orphans and Unsupported children dies you can continue to pay Orphans Benefit or Unsupported Childs Benefit, and Clothing Allowance for Orphans and Unsupported children for up to 4 weeks after the date of death.
Staff must identify what care arrangements have been made for the child.
The new caregiver may meet the qualifications for Orphans Benefit or Unsupported Childs Benefit, and Clothing Allowance for Orphans and Unsupported children, or the child may be able to be included as a dependent child if the new caregiver is receiving a main benefit.
Caregiver or child dies before benefit granted or reviewed
Where a caregiver or child dies before a decision is made on an application or review for Orphans Benefit or Unsupported Childs Benefit, and Clothing Allowance for Orphans and Unsupported children you can continue the application or review process as if the caregiver or child had not died.
