Income changes
From 22 November 2006 when a client applies for a review of income contribution on the 'Residential Care Subsidy Application to Review form' a means assessment of income only, may be completed. Clients are not required to have a means assessment of assets completed.
Overseas pensions
When a client is receiving an overseas pension that is similar in purpose to a New Zealand benefit or pension it will be directly deducted from the New Zealand benefit or pension.
Note before 22 November 2006, the entire overseas private pension was included in the means assessment of income.
Reciprocal agreements
A client may be receiving a pension from a country that has a reciprocal agreement with New Zealand and therefore special provisions apply.
