Review of financial means assessment

A client who was previously means assessed and was not financially eligible for Residential Care Subsidy can reapply for a further financial means assessment at any time.

The reapplication for financial means assessment is called a 'review' because it is a review of the client's initial financial means assessment. The client will need to fill in an Application to Review Financial Means Assessment form and provide updated information.

Clients receiving a Residential Care Loan who want to apply for a Residential Care Subsidy must fill in an Application to Review Financial Means Assessment form.

Note use the Needs Assessment Certificate from the initial application form.

Some reviews will need to consider whether eligibility should be backdated up to 90 days. For more information see: Financial Means Assessment quick reference table

A client's financial means assessment must be reviewed in each of the following circumstances:

• the client applies for review on the Application to Review Financial Means Assessment form or
• there is a reason to believe that there was a mistake in the earlier assessment or

when there is a partner and

• the partner becomes a resident assessed as requiring care or
• the partner dies or
• the partner's marital/relationship status has changed

Note unless one of the above situations apply, we are not obliged to review the financial means assessment.

Any client paying a private contribution can have an 'income only review' done when their income changes and Senior Services - residential care can initiate an income review by sending the appropriate form.

A client is obliged to inform us of any change in their circumstances. However, a review of their financial means assessment can only be completed if the client applies for a review on the Residential Care Subsidy Application to Review Financial Means Assessment form.
