Income only reviews
A client can request an income only review at any time if they know their income has changed or is about to change. The means assessment of income is to be completed from the date the review is initiated.
Generally the date of review is the date the client requested the review or the date the form is returned. See: Financial means assessment quick reference table
Clients are not required to have a means assessment of assets.
If the form is not returned by the client within a reasonable period of time, there is discretion around which date to use for the financial means assessment, depending on the circumstances. You need to consider the client's reason for the delay in returning the form to determine the date of the means assessment of income.
An income review can also be initiated if Senior Services - residential care become aware that the client's income has changed, or is about to change.
Examples include (but are not limited to):
- an inheritance
- proceeds from the sale of a property
- a win in a lottery
An income review form should be issued to the client.
If the client does not provide the necessary details to complete a review of income, or chooses not to generate income from the proceeds, the case should be referred to the manager client service delivery for direction.
