Application received after death
If the client is receiving a main benefit prior to their death and a Residential Support Subsidy application form is received after the death of the client, but before the main benefit has been cancelled, we can only redirect the benefit contribution to the service provider if:
- the client authorisation portion of the application form has been signed by the client or their approved agent and
- a needs assessment was carried out before death
As we are only assigning the redirection of benefit to the provider from the first available pay day, then we would not expect there to be any benefit due to the service provider after the client had died unless the client had applied for benefit and the grant action was not completed prior to death.
The service provider would need to seek payment from the estate if they have not completed the necessary application form prior to the death of the client.
