Temporary Additional Support

Temporary Additional Support should be assessed in the normal manner having regard to the client's income and expenses.

If the rate of Temporary Additional Support is less than the appropriate rate of Social Rehabilitation Assistance discuss with the client whether they wish to withdraw their application for Temporary Additional Support and apply for Social Rehabilitation Assistance.

If Temporary Additional Support is to be paid and the social rehabilitation provider is not agent, discuss with the client the possibility of re-directing to the social rehabilitation provider the equivalent amount of Social Rehabilitation Assistance.

The commencement date for Temporary Additional Support will be either:

• the date of application or
• the date main benefit commenced or
• the date of the qualifying event, that is, date of entry into an approved social rehabilitation programme

whichever is the later.
