Accommodation Supplement
Receiving Special Transfer Allowance will affect the rate of Accommodation Supplement payable.
Accommodation costs are determined by the following formula:
actual rent | $______ |
less Special Transfer Allowance | $______ |
Equals accommodation costs | $______ |
Accommodation Supplement is then to be assessed using the normal formula based on the new assessed accommodation costs.
Example a married couple living in Dunedin are receiving New Zealand Superannuation and paying rent of $200. They have just been assessed as being entitled to $50 Special Transfer Allowance.
actual rent | $200.00 |
less Special Transfer Allowance | $50.00 |
Equals | $150.00 |
The rate of Accommodation Supplement payable must now be based on the couple having rental costs of $150.
