Payment
The rate of Special Transfer Allowance is generally the difference between the client's rent and the average regional rent.
The rate of Special Transfer Allowance payable cannot be higher than the amount of Tenure Protection Allowance or Special Transfer Allowance a client was receiving at 17 November 2000.
If a client moves premises and still qualifies for a Special Transfer Allowance their rate can be no greater than the amount they were receiving for their old house.
To calculate the Special Transfer Allowance use the following formula:
Rental cost | $______ |
less average regional rent | $______ |
Equals | $______ |
The country is broken up into 3 regions for the average regional rent. These regions do not correspond to the three regions used for the maximum Accommodation Supplement payable.
For more information see:
- Deskfile Average regional rents
When Special Transfer Allowance is granted, Accommodation Supplement is calculated differently.
