Change in accommodation income
Clients must tell MSD when they start getting accommodation income or there is a change in accommodation income they get from renters, boarders or additional occupants so the correct rate of Temporary Additional Support can be paid.
When there is a change in accommodation income that a client gets, review their Temporary Additional Support to make sure they still meet the qualifications and are getting the correct rate of payment.
The date to review Temporary Additional Support from will depend on the action involved. Generally, MSD should:
Increase
- increase Temporary Additional Support from the actual date of the change in circumstances
Reduce, suspend or cancel
- reduce, suspend or cancel Temporary Additional Support from the first available date except when the client advises of a change more than 14 days after the event
False or misleading information
If a client gives false or misleading information MSD must review Temporary Additional Support from the actual date of the change in circumstances and establish an overpayment where appropriate.
Mismatch of information
When the renter, boarder or additional occupant also gets Accommodation Supplement, Temporary Additional Support, and/or Special Benefit, MSD will check the details match what information is held. Where there is a mismatch of information, the mismatch process must be followed.
