Idea Services residents and drug and alcohol abuse facilities
MSD must determine whether the client qualifies for Accommodation Supplement.
If the client is entitled to an Accommodation Supplement this must be granted before assessing whether the client qualifies for Temporary Additional Support.
Most Idea Services residents and those staying at a drug and alcohol abuse facility will get a Residential Support Subsidy.
However, if residents at an Idea Services or drug and alcohol abuse facility do not qualify for either a Residential Support Subsidy or Accommodation Supplement, they may be able to get Temporary Additional Support.
When the amount a resident pays for their accommodation includes other costs (e.g. food or service costs) and these costs can be separated out from the amount they pay for accommodation, they are considered renting.
When the resident pays for their accommodation and food, and the food costs can't be separated out from the amount they pay, they are considered boarding.
Former residents of Idea Services facilities may get extra support from Idea Services. Extra support could include:
- someone taking the client grocery shopping
The costs of this support cannot be included as an accommodation cost.
People in approved Social Rehabilitation Programmes may have accommodation costs.
Verification
The client must provide verification of their accommodation costs.
