Effect on benefit
Any inclusion or exclusion of a dependent child from a client's benefit will result in a general review of the client's Emergency Benefit and any extra help they are getting.
You may need to review the following:

Partner's work obligations may change.

- Emergency Benefit Parental Assistance Test
When the last child of a young person aged 16 to 19 leaves their care or stops being dependent and they are getting Emergency Benefit equivalent to Jobseeker Support or Jobseeker Support Student Hardship, they must meet the Parental Assistance Test to keep getting Emergency Benefit. This includes a child the client or their partner got Foster Care Allowance, Orphans Benefit or Unsupported Childs Benefit for.

- Non-standard benefit rate
When a child is added or removed you may need to manually adjust the non-standard rate of payment.
