Approved travel reasons

A client receiving Emergency Maintenance Allowance is generally not able to continue to get their main benefit payments while they are absent from New Zealand unless they meet the criteria for approved travel.

Approved travel for clients getting Emergency Maintenance Allowance is:

  • travel for a permitted reason

Note clients are not required to meet their job search obligations while absent from New Zealand on approved travel.
