Part-time employment

Part-time employment does not make a child financially independent. Nor do you take the child's earnings into account when assessing the rate of Emergency Maintenance Allowance payments. For more information on children's income see:

There may be situations where a child starts (or is in) part-time employment and can no longer be considered a dependent child for some other reason such as:

• no longer maintained as a member of the family or
• the client is no longer primarily responsible for them
