Client intends to study full-time
When a client, getting Jobseeker Support advises they intend to study full-time, they can continue to receive Jobseeker Support until they commence their study (provided they still meet all the qualifications for Jobseeker Support).
Applying for Student Allowance, Independent Circumstances Allowance or Student Loan
If the client is applying for a Student Allowance, Independent Circumstances Allowance or Student Loan you will need to:
- add a future suspension to the benefit for the Monday of the week that the client advises they will start full-time study using the reason code '032 - Full-time student'
For example, the client starts study on Wednesday 15 June - add the future suspension for Monday 13 June. Student Allowance or Student Loan living costs (if nominated) will commence on Monday 13 June as these are always paid for the full week.
and
- encourage the client to go into the StudyLink website and apply on-line for Student Allowance, Independent Circumstances Allowance or Student Loan with living costs at the earliest opportunity
Where there is early approval of Student Allowance, Independent Circumstances Allowance or Student Loan, StudyLink will check the future suspension date on the Jobseeker Support and advise the case manager of any correction needed.
When the Jobseeker Support has been cancelled from an incorrect date, StudyLink will establish overpayments.
No Student Allowance, Independent Circumstances Allowance or Student Loan
When a client advises they intend to commence full-time study but do not intend to receive or are not eligible for Student Allowance, Independent Circumstances Allowance or Student Loan, you will need to add a future suspension to the Jobseeker Support.
Note the date for the future suspension in this situation is the date the client commences study.
