Jobseeker Support : Contents

Clients currently living in a limited employment location

This applies to clients who are living in a limited employment location, and are:

  • getting Jobseeker Support
  • transferring from a benefit with no work obligations to Jobseeker Support or
  • applying for Jobseeker Support

It does not include clients already getting Jobseeker Support who:

  • move to a limited employment location or
  • move from one limited employment location to another

A client who is living in a limited employment location and applying for Jobseeker Support, or transferring from a benefit with no work obligations to Jobseeker Support, must meet the Jobseeker Support eligibility criteria.

For more information see:

A client who is living in a limited employment location and receiving Jobseeker Support through their local Service Centre must continue to meet the work obligations. These include being available for, and taking reasonable steps to obtain, suitable employment.

Meeting the work obligations

To determine whether a client is meeting their work obligations, you should consider if the client:

  • is available for work for 30 hours or more a week
  • accepts any reasonable job offers within their abilities
  • does not restrict their job search to vacancies in their chosen occupation
  • makes applications for suitable jobs and
  • contacts employers about vacancies

It is up to the client to demonstrate to you how they are meeting their work obligations. If they are unable to do this, they will fail the work obligations.

Assistance to transition into employment

Assistance to transition into employment may be available to help clients, including those living in a limited employment location, with the essential costs of attending a job interview or taking up paid employment.
