Masters students

Some clients studying toward a Master's degree or a Doctorate may be classified as full-time by education providers. If they are enrolled in a full-time programme, they cannot receive Jobseeker Support. When a student is in hardship between the end of one academic year of a programme and the start of the next, they may be eligible for Jobseeker Support Student Hardship.

Other clients studying towards a postgraduate degree may be enrolled part-time and genuinely available for and searching for work while studying. These people can receive Jobseeker Support.

MSD should confirm with the students education provider if they are unsure whether the course is full-time.
