No stand-down applies

An initial stand-down is not imposed in the following situations:

• Chronic recurring illness
• Client leaves Mangere Refugee Resettlement Centre
• Entering a refuge
• In residential care
• Partner's benefit cancelled due to Parental Assistance Test
• Prisoners
• Temporary employment
• Transfer between benefits

When no stand-down applies, the commencement date of the benefit is the later of either:

• the entitlement date or
• the application date

Note when no stand-down applies, the 28-day rule does not apply.
