Temporary employment
No stand-down is imposed when a client:
- has been in part-time employment or full-time employment for less than 26 weeks
- was getting a benefit immediately before they were employed
- the benefit was stopped because they returned to work and
- has applied for a benefit after their employment ceased
Temporary employment can include employment during an employment trial period of up to 90 days if the client was getting a benefit and is reapplying for Jobseeker Support as their employment has ceased.
Note the client's average weekly income is not required when the client has been in temporary employment for less than 26 weeks. However, the client's final pay details are required to determine the date of event and entitlement date.
If a client leaves their employment without good and sufficient reason a voluntary unemployment stand-down may be considered.
