Hospitals
If a single client is in hospital at the time they meet the qualifications for New Zealand Superannuation, they can only receive the single sharing accommodation rate.
When a client is already receiving the single living alone rate of New Zealand Superannuation at the time they are admitted to a public hospital, the single living alone rate continues for the first 13 weeks in hospital. After 13 weeks, the rate of payment may be reduced.
