Living Alone Payment before 2 September 2013
Clients receiving a Living Alone Payment as at 1 September 2013 are entitled to receive the single living alone rate of New Zealand Superannuation, from 2 September 2013.
The single living alone rate can continue to be paid for as long as there is no change in the clients circumstances that affect their entitlement to the living alone payment under the criteria that appliedĀ before 2 September 2013.
For example, a client whose principal place of residence had been accepted as a 'licensed boarding-house' for the purpose of being entitled to receive the living alone payment, can receive the single living alone rate even if the premises do not meet the definition of boarding-house that applies from 2 September 2013.
