Boarding houses
Clients living alone in a room in a boarding house can receive the single living alone rate, as long as all other qualifications are met.
This can include houses that are styled as a large family home where the residents have a separate bedroom along with facilities for communal use by all the other residents, such as Abbeyfield Houses or some Selwyn Foundation community houses.
If you are unsure whether the premises meet the definition of a boarding house contact Helpline for advice.
