Mandatory Review dates for Orphan's Benefit and Unsupported Child's Benefit
MSD must review a caregiver's Orphan's Benefit or Unsupported Child's Benefit within 52-weeks of the commencement date of the benefit, or within 52-weeks from when the caregiver's last Mandatory Review was completed.
The caregivers next review date is set 52 weeks from the date MSD determined the caregiver continues to qualify for Orphan's Benefit or Unsupported Child's Benefit and the rate of benefit payable (i.e. when MSD completes the review).
Caregivers who are getting another benefit that is subject to a Mandatory Review will have their Orphan's Benefit or Unsupported Child's Benefit reviewed separately to that benefit, unless the caregiver is getting Disability Allowance for the child that Orphan's Benefit or Unsupported Child's Benefit is paid. In this case, Disability Allowance will be reviewed at the same time as their Orphan's Benefit or Unsupported Child's Benefit.
Note when MSD has an interaction with a caregiver that confirms all of the same circumstances as a Mandatory Review, this can push out the caregiver's Mandatory Review date by 52 weeks. This is known as a specific engagement.
